All new applicants who wish to register with the State of New York as a Barber Apprentice and all individuals who wish to renew an existing Barber License or Barber Apprentice Registration must complete a course on the "transmission of contagious diseases and the proper methods of sanitation and sterilization to be employed in barber shops".

Application for Correspondence Course

To take the Awareness of Contagious Diseases Course by correspondence, please mail us a money order or bank check for $59.95 made out to Atlas Barber School. Our address is:

Please include a note stating the following:

After we receive payment, we will send you the Awareness of Contagious Diseases Course Package. The package will include a course booklet with information on contagious diseases that barbers encounter in the profession. It will also include an exam with 25 questions that is based on the booklet that you will receive.

Completing the Correspondence Course

The student is expected to read and study the course booklet contained within the Awareness of Contagious Diseases Course Package. The student can then proceed to complete the open book exam and mail it back to us with the enrollment agreement.

When we receive the exam back from you, we will grade it. Upon passing the test, we will mail you two certificates, one of which you will have to mail to the state with your apprentice or master barber application. The other certificate is for your records.

You may take the test as many times as necessary to attain a passing grade. There will be no additional cost for taking the test numerous times except for postage.
